TTD Supply, erection & commissioning of 11kV compact substations – Tirumala
Supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of 11kV/433V, 500 kVA packaged compact substations, 11kV VCBs, and HTOH lines.Executed to meet additional water heater power loads at multiple locations in Tirumala.

Project Information
This project involves the supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of packaged type compact substations (11 kV/433 V, 500 kVA) along with associated 11 kV Vacuum Circuit Breakers (VCBs), High Tension Overhead (HTOH) lines, and transmission towers at various locations in Tirumala. The primary objective of the work is to strengthen the existing electrical infrastructure to safely and reliably meet the increased power demand arising from additional water heater loads required for pilgrim amenities and supporting facilities.
The scope of work begins with the engineering and supply of factory-built, packaged compact substations designed to operate efficiently in hilly terrain and continuous-duty conditions. These substations integrate transformers, HT/LT switchgear, protection systems, and metering within a compact enclosure, ensuring space optimization, enhanced safety, and ease of maintenance. High-quality 11 kV VCB panels are installed to provide dependable switching, isolation, and protection against faults, thereby improving system reliability and operational safety.
Erection activities include foundation works, positioning and alignment of compact substations, installation of VCB panels, and erection of HTOH lines and towers in accordance with approved drawings and statutory standards. Special care is taken during tower erection and conductor stringing to address terrain constraints, environmental considerations, and safety requirements, ensuring minimal disturbance to surrounding areas. All materials and workmanship comply with relevant Indian Standards and electrical safety regulations.
Testing and commissioning form a critical phase of the project. Comprehensive pre-commissioning checks are carried out, including insulation resistance tests, transformer oil testing (where applicable), protection relay testing, VCB functional checks, and continuity and earthing verification. Load trials and system integration tests are conducted to confirm that the substations and associated lines can handle the additional water heater loads without voltage drops or thermal stress. Final commissioning is completed only after satisfactory performance under operating conditions.
Overall, the project significantly enhances the power distribution network by providing a robust, scalable, and safe electrical system. It ensures uninterrupted power supply for water heating and allied facilities, improves energy reliability, and supports the smooth functioning of essential services for large numbers of devotees visiting Tirumala, while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
